The history of capital of Japan is complicate, someone said Edo where is former name of Tokyo was started shogunate since 1603, other one said Emperor has been living in Tokyo since 1869 etc, because of no definition of capital in Japan, but now Tokyo is capital in Japan.東京が首都になった歴史は複雑で、徳川家康が江戸幕府を開いた1603年から政治の中心となってから、皇居が現在の場所(旧江戸城)になった1869年から とするものなど諸説ありますが、現在の日本の首都は東京です。

I was born and had been lived in western Tama area, for me, going to center of Tokyo is 1 hour by trian/car, it was special occasion such as dating, watching rugby.西多摩生まれで西多摩育ちの私にとって、都心に行くのに電車、車で1時間かかり、特別な時(デート、ラグビー観戦 など)にしかいかないので、別の土地に行くようなものでした。
People who are living out of Tokyo, they have an impress that Tokyo is mega city but let you know not all of people are living around high building area.東京以外に住んでいる人たちから見ると、東京は大都市と言う印象ですが、高層ビルに囲まれた都市部に住んでいるひとばかりではないことも知っておいてください。
When they came to Tokyo for working after graduate high school, when they transferred from Chuo-line to Ome-line, it was the same as the scenery of their hometown, and they felt intimate feelings, and whether this is Tokyo really, they said surprised.就職のため、高卒で東京に出て来た友人たちは、中央線から青梅線に乗り換えると、田舎の景色に似ていて、親近感が湧き、本当に東京なのかと、ビックリしたと言っていました。
